Exploring Mexico’s Ancient Palenque

And when it comes to the ancient Mayan civilization, one place that has always captured my imagination is the ancient city of Palenque in Mexico. So, I packed my bags and set off on an unforgettable journey to explore this mystical city. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint! Getting There
Before we dive into the wonders of Palenque, let’s talk about how to get there. The city is located in the state of Chiapas in southern Mexico and is easily accessible by air, road, or bus. I chose to fly to Villahermosa and then took a bus to Palenque, which took around 2 hours. The bus ride was scenic and gave me a glimpse of the beautiful Mexican countryside. You can also rent a car and drive to Palenque, which gives you the freedom to explore the surrounding areas at your own pace.
Exploring the Ruins
As I entered the Palenque archeological site, I was immediately struck by the grandeur and beauty of the ruins. The ancient city, which was inhabited between 226 BC and 799 AD, is nestled in the lush green jungle, making it a truly unique and breathtaking sight. The ruins are spread over an area of 15 square kilometers and are well-preserved, giving visitors a glimpse into the daily lives of the Mayan people.
